Volkswagen Servicing and Repairs Norwich
Golf, Polo, Tiguan, T-Roc, Passat, Transporter, Caddy and the ID electric range, serviced to the VW schedule and repaired by people who see them every week.
Volkswagen is the make we see most on the ramp after Ford, from Polos and Golfs on the school run in Eaton and Cringleford to Tiguans on the A11 commute and the Transporters and Caddys that half of Norwich's trades run on. We service them to the Volkswagen schedule, fixed or LongLife, with the correct oil approval and OEM-specification parts, and we repair the things that Volkswagens actually need: DSG services, timing chains and belts, EGR and DPF work on the TDIs, cooling system plastics, brakes and suspension. Independent, with a straight quote before any work, at 100-106 Ber Street seven days a week.
Servicing to the Volkswagen Schedule
Volkswagen runs two service regimes: a fixed interval, typically every 12 months or around 10,000 miles, and the variable LongLife regime that can stretch to two years or 18,000 miles on cars that are used gently and run the specified oil. Which regime your car is on is set in the instrument cluster, and it matters, because a car on LongLife needs a LongLife-approved oil (VW 504 00 / 507 00) or the interval means nothing. We check the regime, use the correct approval, carry out the inspection items VW specifies for the mileage, reset the indicator and update the digital service record where access is available.
Independent servicing and a valid Volkswagen warranty go together, provided the work matches the manufacturer's schedule and specification. Ours does. The correct oil approval, OEM-quality or genuine parts, every inspection item completed, the service indicator reset and the history updated, all itemised on the invoice so a dealer or a future buyer can see exactly what was done and when.
The VW Jobs We Do Most
- DSG gearbox service. The dual-clutch DSG needs its oil and filter changed at the manufacturer interval (commonly every 40,000 miles on the wet-clutch DQ250 type). Skipping it is behind most of the hesitation, judder and mechatronic complaints we see. See our gearbox page.
- Timing chains and cambelts. Some earlier TSI petrol engines have a known pattern of timing chain tensioner wear that shows as a rattle on cold start; the TDI diesels and other engines run a cambelt with its own interval. We check which your engine has and when it is due. See cambelt replacement.
- EGR, DPF and AdBlue on TDIs, especially on cars that do short journeys around the city and never get the DPF hot. Diagnosed and explained honestly; see diesel repairs.
- Cooling system plastics. Thermostat housings, water pumps and coolant flanges on many VW engines are plastic and become brittle with age. A coolant smell or a slowly falling level is worth a pressure test before it becomes an overheating event.
- Brakes, suspension and electrics: the everyday wear on any car, with VW's electronic parking brake put into service mode correctly for rear pads.

Transporter, Caddy and Crafter
VW vans are a big part of our week. Transporters in particular are worked hard and hold their value, so keeping the service history intact matters. Oil and filter to the schedule, DSG services on the automatics, brakes, clutches and dual mass flywheels, and commercial tyres with the correct load rating. Early drop-off and same-day turnaround where we can, so the van is back earning. See van servicing and van tyres.
Can an independent garage service my VW under warranty? Yes. Under the block exemption rules an independent can service a car under manufacturer warranty provided the Volkswagen schedule is followed and correct-specification parts and oil are used. We do exactly that and update the service record.
ID.3, ID.4 and e-Golf
Volkswagen's electric cars still have a service schedule: brakes that need freeing because regeneration leaves them unused, cabin filter, battery and electronics coolant, tyres wearing under the weight and torque, and the 12-volt battery that actually strands owners. We service them to the schedule and refer high-voltage battery faults to the specialists that work needs. See hybrid and electric servicing and electric car tyres.
Tyres for Volkswagens
Many Volkswagens left the factory on Continental, Bridgestone or Goodyear, and the higher-specification models carry manufacturer-approved fitments. We check the sidewall before quoting and fit the matching specification where the car calls for it, or a strong mid-range alternative where budget matters. Frequently Asked Questions
Can an independent garage service my VW under warranty?
Yes. Under the block exemption rules an independent can service a car under manufacturer warranty provided the Volkswagen schedule is followed and correct-specification parts and oil are used. We do exactly that and update the service record.
How often does a DSG gearbox need servicing?
The wet-clutch DSG typically needs an oil and filter change every 40,000 miles; dry-clutch versions have their own schedule. Skipping it causes most of the DSG hesitation and judder we see. We check which type you have.
Is my VW on fixed or LongLife servicing?
It is set in the instrument cluster and shown by how the service reminder counts down. LongLife needs a specific oil approval or the extended interval is not safe. We check and confirm when you book.
Do you service VW vans?
Yes: Transporter, Caddy, Crafter and Amarok, including DSG services, clutches and commercial tyres, with early drop-off and fast turnaround.
Do you work on the ID electric range?
Yes, for servicing, brakes, tyres, suspension and 12-volt battery. High-voltage battery faults are referred to the appropriate specialist.
