Van Tyres Norwich

Light commercial tyres with the right load rating, fitted quickly so the van is back earning. Early drop-off, seven days a week, at 100-106 Ber Street.

A van standing still costs money, which is why we treat van tyres as a same-day job wherever the size allows. Our Ber Street workshop supplies and fits commercial tyres for the vans Norfolk actually runs on: Ford Transit and Transit Custom, Mercedes Sprinter and Vito, Vauxhall Vivaro, Volkswagen Transporter and Crafter, Renault Trafic, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Relay and the pickups that work the farms and building sites around Norwich. We are open Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm, so a tyre found flat on Sunday evening does not have to cost you Monday.

Why a Van Tyre Is Not Just a Bigger Car Tyre

Commercial tyres carry a C after the rim size (for example 215/65 R16C) and two load indexes rather than one, because a van tyre has to carry a serious load on a single wheel and cope with the higher pressures that go with it. The casing is reinforced, the sidewall is stiffer and the pressures are often 55 to 70 psi rather than the 30-something a car runs. Fitting a passenger car tyre in the same size is dangerous and, on a loaded van, illegal for the weight.

We check the load rating against the plate on the van, not against what happened to be on it before, because vans change hands and the previous owner may have fitted whatever was cheapest. If the plate calls for a 109/107 index, that is what goes on.

Tradespeople, Couriers and Small Fleets

Most of our van work comes from people who cannot book a day off the road: electricians and plumbers out of Sprowston and Hellesdon, couriers running the A47 corridor, builders on the new estates at Poringland and Costessey, and small fleets of two to five vans. What they need is predictable: a phone call, a straight answer on stock, and the van back the same day.

So we do early drop-off from 8am, we fit while you wait wherever we can, and if we need to order a less common size we say so on the phone rather than when you arrive. Volkswagen Transporter and Crafter sizes, Sprinter 16-inch sizes and the common Transit fitments are the ones we see most and hold most often.

Pickups, 4x4 Vans and Off-Road Use

Ranger, Hilux, Navara and L200 pickups doing a mix of farm track and dual carriageway need a tyre that copes with both. We fit all-terrain patterns where the work demands it and highway-terrain tyres where the truck spends its life on tarmac, and we explain the noise and wear trade-off before you choose. Our 4x4 and SUV tyres page goes into that in more detail.

Good to know

Do you fit van tyres the same day in Norwich? On the common Transit, Sprinter, Vivaro and Transporter sizes, usually yes. Call 07933 900901 with the size and load index from the sidewall, or the registration, and we will confirm whether it is on the shelf or a short order.

Wear Patterns We See on Norfolk Vans

Vans wear tyres differently from cars because the load moves around. A courier van that is heavy in the morning and empty by lunchtime scrubs its front tyres on roundabouts; a trades van loaded to the roof with the weight over the rear axle wears the rear shoulders. Under-inflation is the biggest killer of van tyres we see, because a van tyre 15 psi down looks fine and drives fine until the sidewall overheats.

  • Check pressures cold, at least fortnightly, against the loaded figure on the door or fuel flap.
  • Uneven wear across a front tyre usually means alignment; we can check it while the van is in.
  • A van that pulls or wanders with new tyres on it needs a four-wheel alignment, not another set of tyres.

What Is Included

Every van tyre we fit comes with computerised balancing, a new valve, torque-checked wheel nuts and disposal of the old tyre, and the work is covered by our 3-month / 3,000-mile workmanship guarantee. Puncture repairs on commercial tyres follow the same BS AU 159 rules as cars: if the damage is in the repairable area we repair it; if it is not we tell you why.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you fit van tyres the same day in Norwich?

On the common Transit, Sprinter, Vivaro and Transporter sizes, usually yes. Call 07933 900901 with the size and load index from the sidewall, or the registration, and we will confirm whether it is on the shelf or a short order.

Can I fit car tyres on my van to save money?

No. Van tyres carry a C marking and a higher load index because they carry far more weight per wheel at higher pressures. A passenger tyre in the same size is not rated for the load and is unsafe on a working van.

What pressure should my van tyres be?

Use the figure on the door pillar or fuel flap for the loaded condition, which is often 55 to 70 psi and much higher than a car. Check them cold. Under-inflation is the most common cause of van tyre failure we see.

Do you look after small fleets?

Yes. Tradespeople and small operators with a handful of vans use us for tyres, servicing and repairs because we turn the van round quickly and quote before we start. Call to talk through what you run.

Do you do pickup and 4x4 van tyres?

Yes, including all-terrain and highway-terrain patterns for Ranger, Hilux, Navara and L200. See our 4x4 and SUV tyres page for the trade-offs.
