The Michelin Range, and Who It Suits

The Primacy range is Michelin's comfort and longevity line for saloons, estates and family cars. Pilot Sport is the performance family, widely fitted as original equipment on sports and premium models. CrossClimate is the all-season range and is worth singling out: it carries the three-peak mountain snowflake winter marking while still behaving like a summer tyre in normal conditions, which suits the British climate better than most.

The consistent theme across the range is wear behaviour. A tyre that has lost most of its wet performance by the time it reaches 3mm is a false economy if you are covering serious mileage, and this is the specific problem Michelin design against. If you commute the A11 or A47 daily, that is worth more than the headline price.

Michelin and the EU Tyre Label

The EU tyre label is the honest comparison between brands: wet grip A to E, rolling resistance A to E, and noise in decibels. Michelin's road ranges are usually near the top of the first two, and on a car that does real miles the rolling-resistance grade shows up in fuel bills. Ask us for the label on the exact tyre and we will put it next to the alternatives.

Michelin sizes for family cars and estates are common enough that same-day is often possible, and CrossClimate fitments are worth planning before winter rather than after it. Call with your size or registration and we will confirm.

Once your Michelin tyres are here the fitting is straightforward: around 20 to 30 minutes for one and an hour or so for four, every wheel computer balanced, every nut torqued to the manufacturer's figure, and the tyre pressure monitoring system reset where the car has one. Park free on site and wait, or drop the car and collect. Open Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

No manufacturer pays us to push its tyres. If a different brand suits your car better than Michelin, or a good part worn makes more sense for an older car, we will tell you and show you the EU labels side by side. Whatever goes on, the fitting carries our 3-month / 3,000-mile workmanship guarantee.

While the wheels are off we look at the wear on the old tyres. Edge wear points at alignment that needs setting before the new set suffers the same fate; a nail in the centre of the tread often means a repair would have done instead of a new Michelin.
