The Yokohama Range, and Who It Suits

BluEarth is Yokohama's touring and eco family, built around low rolling resistance and low noise, and the BluEarth-4S is the all-season version with the winter snowflake marking. Advan is the performance family, from the Advan Fleva for everyday performance to the Advan Sport that came as original equipment on premium and sports cars. Geolandar looks after SUVs and 4x4s, with highway, all-terrain and mud-terrain patterns.

The reason to choose Yokohama is usually that the car came on them. Japanese manufacturers tune ride and refinement around a specific tyre, and a Yokohama BluEarth on a Toyota or Lexus hybrid is often the quietest and most efficient choice, which matters when the engine is off half the time and every bit of tyre roar is audible. On a hybrid doing high mileage, the rolling resistance grade also feeds straight into fuel economy.

Manufacturer-Approved Fitments

Yokohama produce manufacturer-approved fitments for several makes, particularly Japanese and some European premium brands, marked on the sidewall. We fit the correct specification where your car calls for it. If you are not sure what your car needs, read the sidewall of the tyre you already have or give us the registration and we will work it out for you.

Popular Yokohama Sizes

If your car is on one of these sizes, Yokohama is almost certainly available in it. Each links to a guide to that size:

Yokohama and the EU Tyre Label

The EU tyre label grades wet grip, rolling resistance and noise, and it is the reason a Yokohama is often the sensible buy: the label is close to premium, the price is not. Grades vary size by size, so we read the label for your exact fitment and put it next to the alternatives before you choose.

Fitting Yokohama Tyres at Ber Street

Yokohama is a common original fitment on Japanese cars, so for a Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Subaru or Lexus we will check what came off before quoting. Give us the registration and we will confirm the size and specification.

A Yokohama goes on exactly as a Michelin or a part worn does: new valve or TPMS service kit, mounted without touching the rim, balanced on the computer wheel balancer, torqued by hand to the manufacturer's figure and the old tyre disposed of. Budget half an hour for one tyre and about an hour for four, with free parking and somewhere to wait. We are open seven days, 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

No manufacturer pays us to push its tyres. If a different brand suits your car better than Yokohama, or a good part worn makes more sense for an older car, we will tell you and show you the EU labels side by side. Whatever goes on, the fitting carries our 3-month / 3,000-mile workmanship guarantee.

Uneven wear on the outgoing tyres is the car telling you something, usually about alignment or a worn suspension component, and it is cheaper to fix before the new Yokohama set starts wearing the same way. And if the damage is a nail or screw in the central tread, our puncture repair may save you the tyre altogether.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Yokohama tyres premium or mid-range?

They sit between the two: original equipment on many Japanese cars, priced a little above Hankook and Kumho, and close to the premium brands on refinement and efficiency. For a Toyota, Honda, Mazda or Lexus they are often the natural like-for-like choice.

Which Yokohama tyre suits a hybrid?

BluEarth. It is built for low rolling resistance and low noise, both of which matter more on a hybrid or electric car, and the BluEarth-4S adds the winter snowflake marking if you want one set all year.

Do you fit Yokohama tyres in Norwich?

Yes. We supply and fit Yokohama across car, SUV and 4x4 sizes and can order specialist Advan and Geolandar sizes in. Call 07933 900901 with the size or registration and we will confirm.

Can you fit Yokohama tyres on a Sunday?

Yes. We are open Sunday 10am to 4pm as well as Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm. Common Yokohama sizes are usually on the shelf, so a Sunday fitting is normally same day.
