Mobile Tyre Fitting in Norwich: The Honest Alternative

We do not send a van to your drive. We are a fully equipped workshop a mile from the city centre, open seven days, and for most people that is the quicker, cheaper answer.

If you have searched for mobile tyre fitting in Norwich, you probably want one of two things: a tyre sorted today without rearranging your day, or a fix for a car that cannot safely be driven. We should be clear before you read further: Norwich Tyres & Auto Service does not offer mobile fitting. We are a workshop at 100-106 Ber Street, open Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm. We have written this page because a lot of people who search for a mobile fitter would, in our experience, be better served by a fast workshop, and because we would rather tell you what we do than pretend to do something we do not.

What a Mobile Fitter Can and Cannot Do

Mobile tyre fitting is a real service and for some situations the right one. A van comes to your home or workplace with your tyres pre-ordered, fits them on the driveway, balances them with a portable machine and leaves. The limits are practical rather than a matter of skill:

  • Stock. The van carries what was ordered for you, so the appointment is usually next day or later, not now. A workshop with tyres on the shelf can fit while you wait.
  • Equipment. Wheel alignment, a proper inspection of the wheel and hub, TPMS diagnosis, brake and suspension checks while the wheel is off: these need a ramp and workshop equipment.
  • Weather and space. A driveway in the rain, a road with no parking, a sloping surface or an underground car park are all places a mobile fitter may decline.
  • Price. You are paying for a van, a fitter and the travel. That is fair, but it is built into the tyre price.

When the Workshop Is the Faster Choice

If the car can be driven safely, coming to us is almost always quicker than waiting for a van. Most single tyres are fitted in 20 to 30 minutes and a full set in about an hour, with balancing, new valves and disposal included, and we are open seven days including Sunday when most mobile services are not. There is free parking on site and a waiting area, and while the wheel is off we can see what a driveway fitter cannot: a cracked alloy, a leaking valve, a worn brake pad, uneven wear that points to alignment. If your old tyres wore on the edges, a four-wheel alignment at the same visit protects the new set, and that is not something a van can do.

What If the Car Genuinely Cannot Move?

Sometimes it really cannot. The tyre is shredded, there is no spare, or the car is a run-flat that has been driven flat. Honest options:

  • A slow puncture that still holds some air: reinflate at the nearest forecourt and drive gently to us. Leave the nail in until you arrive.
  • A space-saver or repair kit: fit the space-saver, or use the sealant kit, and come to us the same day. Our space-saver and repair kit guide explains both.
  • Breakdown cover: if you have it, use it. Most policies will recover the car to a garage of your choice, and ours is a mile from the city centre.
  • A run-flat driven flat: these can usually be driven around 50 miles at up to 50 mph to a fitter. See our run-flat tyres page.

If none of those work, a mobile fitter is the right call and we will not pretend otherwise. Ring us anyway if you want a second opinion on what the tyre needs; the advice is free.

Good to know

Do you offer mobile tyre fitting in Norwich? No. We are a workshop at 100-106 Ber Street and do not send a van out. We are open seven days including Sunday, and for a car that can be driven safely, coming to us is usually faster than waiting for a mobile appointment.

Two Tyres, Four Tyres, or a Repair

A mobile appointment tends to be booked for a fixed job. In the workshop we can look first and then decide. A nail in the central tread is a puncture repair, not a new tyre. A worn pair on one axle might mean two tyres and an alignment rather than four tyres. A vibration might be balancing, not a tyre at all. Looking before quoting saves people money more often than not, and it is one of the main reasons we stayed a workshop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer mobile tyre fitting in Norwich?

No. We are a workshop at 100-106 Ber Street and do not send a van out. We are open seven days including Sunday, and for a car that can be driven safely, coming to us is usually faster than waiting for a mobile appointment.

Why choose a workshop over a mobile tyre fitter?

Speed, when the tyre is in stock and you can be fitted today; a proper look at the wheel, hub, brakes and alignment while the wheel is off; and seven-day opening. A mobile fitter is the right choice when the car genuinely cannot move.

My tyre is completely flat and I have no spare. What should I do?

Do not drive on it. Use your breakdown cover if you have it and ask for recovery to us, or use a sealant repair kit to get the car to the workshop. Ring us for advice either way; it costs nothing.

Can you fit tyres while I wait?

Yes. Most single tyres take 20 to 30 minutes and a full set about an hour, with free parking and a waiting area on site.

Are you open on Sundays?

Yes, 10am to 4pm, which most mobile fitters are not. See our Sunday tyre fitting page for what we can do and what needs ordering.
